Organizations

The following spiritual organizations are active at our parish. If you would like to know more about any of them or have suggestions or would like to be involved in any way, please use the “Contact Us” page to get in touch with the respective organizations.

Sunday School
Till September 2010, Sunday School was conducted immediately after the monthly Holy Qurbana at St. Micheal’s Anglican Church and along with the fourth Sunday Prayer Meetings at George Mackie Library. Since October 2010, Sunday School has been conducted weekly, immediately after celebrating the Holy Qurbana. The current Principle Mr……..and Vice Principle Ms. Annie Abraham are ably assisted by four other teachers. Our children are passionate and involved in the classes as can be seen by their exemplary performance in the Diocese-wide examinations. The Sunday School also organizes the Orthodox Vacation Bible School (OVBS) in the summer.

Martha Mariam Vanitha Samajam
The Martha Mariam Vanitha Samajam is the forum for women of the church to get-together, pray and discuss spiritual and other matters of faith that involve women. The Members of the Samajam have been organizing potlucks on important occasions for all Members of the Church and are also active participants in the Church Picnic and Christmas programs. Under the leadership of the Secretary, Ms. Annamma Philip and the Joint Secretary, Ms. Geeta Shaji, the Samajam also organizes house visits and co-ordinates prayers in Members’ houses. The Samajam Members recently participated in the Diocese-wide examinations as well.

Orthodox Christian Youth Movement
OCYM is the group that brings together the Youth of Church to organize activities and encourage youth participation in spiritual and faith-driven matters. The Youth Movement is currently working under the guidance of Mr. Sajan Zachariah as Secretary and Mr. Rahul Rajeev as Joint Secretary. The Youth of the church have been instrumental in several of its activities including the Church Picnic, the Christmas function, Carol Singing and the Parsonage furnishing drive in addition to organizing get-togethers at the residences of the Members.

Prayer Fellowship
Till September 2010, the Prayer Fellowship organized gatherings on the fourth Sunday of each month at George Mackie Library. Subsequently, Prayer sessions are being organized on a monthly basis on Saturday evenings at the residences of Members in the Surrey and Vancouver regions. These sessions are a great opportunity for families and children to meet in an informal setting, sing hymns, read the Bible and partake in a relevant message from the Bible by the Vicar.

Choir
Under the leadership of our Vicar, Fr. P.C. George, Choir practice sessions are organized at the parsonage to teach new/alternative tunes to commonly sung songs and to ensure consistency in the worship. Practice sessions are also conducted prior to special religious occasions to go over songs that are not sung on a regular basis. All those interested are welcome to attend – especially children, who will enjoy learning our ancient and beautiful worship tunes.
